I recently went to the AAPPM Conference and wanted to give an overview of what I learned that might help the practice, what we are doing well and some suggestions to consider to get even better.
Here are all my notes HERE
What we are doing well
New Products
Areas of improvement
Have a recall campaign on patients after 3 months or 12 months and call them up to see how they are doing, use a virtual assistant in downtime when not answering phones
Do a ICD analysis based on what we do and what is most profitable (I think we already know) but then only market to what is profitable. (Community Advocate, Catholic Flyer etc only talk about what is profitable)
Calculation that might be helpful to add on to what Becky is doing each month and make a Dashboard.
Patient Lifetime Value (PLV) - Total expected revenue of patient
Average Value Per Visit X Estimated Number of Visits = PLV
Patient Acquisition Cost (PAC) - How much to get a patient
Total Marketing Cost/Total Number of New Patients = PAC
Break Even Point (BEP) - Total cost and total revenue are equal
Fixed Cost / (Revenue Gained-Variable Cost) = BEP
Document based on time (can include staff time) for procedure if you spend more than the pre-included time you can do a time based office visit. Neil especially might be good because of so much time.
Consider a part time pedorthist - they can dispense AFOs and orthotics and modify. See patients one day a week and pay about $50 per hour but take care of headaches for orthotics. We still get paid they just help with fixes and scanning.
Have me participate in staff monthly meeting to help with training. Train on what we do and why vs just change things. Explain to all staff about DME, products, etc.
